For well over a decade Loyola University New Orleans has been recognized as one of the top 10 regional universities in the South territory of US. The University was ranked 6Th in News & World Report, in 2008 "America's Best Colleges" issue and 6Th in Princeton Review of "Best Universities-Master’s" category for the Southern Region. The main purpose of the University is to provide quality education in the respected fields. History: The University was founded by Jesuits, one of the early settlers of New Orleans. In 1849, the first College of New Orleans opened it`s door to the general public. The in on July 10, 1912, the governor signed that Loyola can now grant university degrees too. Since then, Loyola University has devoted herself in the well being, re-shaping and educating students to build their futures. Mission Statement: Loyola University New Orleans, a Jesuit and Catholic institution of higher education, welcomes students from all around the world possessing diverse backgrounds and heritage with different cultures.
