History: Kent State University was established in 1910 as "Ohio State Normal School at Kent" and was renamed as "Kent State Normal School" in 1911. In 1915, the school was renamed as "Kent State Normal College." In 1929, the state of Ohio changed the name to "Kent State College" which later became as “Kent State University.” Dr. Lester Lefton is the running president of Kent State University. Mission Statement: The mission of Kent State University is to discover, create, apply and share knowledge, as well as to foster ethical and humanitarian values in the service of Ohio and the global community.
