History:
Chapman University was founded on March 04, 1861 as “Hesperian College” timed to coincide with the exact hour of President Abraham Lincoln's inauguration. Lincoln's belief in equality in education was the core foundation behind the formation. University College was founded in the early era of last century and is now a half-a-century old itself. The name has formally been changed from “Chapman University College” to “Brandman University” in April 2009.
